Cholesterol

Shrimp, eggs, and cinnamon have often resided as foods of either concern or benefit to one's cholesterol levels. Despite literature stating specific claims. It is up to the individual to attain the right information from their doctor. In addition to this, they must be quite aware of the ways in which they eat as well.

Shrimp and Cholesterol: When we refer to the relationship between that of shrimp and cholesterol, we find that many are bewildered as to whether or not shrimp resides as a cholesterol food.

Due to this, there is often a great amount of debate concerning the relation between the two. Although studies have shown shrimp to possess a good amount of cholesterol, however, many do not hold it up in comparison to foods such as eggs.
Eggs and Cholesterol: In terms of eggs and cholesterol, we find varying beliefs as well. Although the traditional belief held was that of eggs being high in cholesterol, many now assume that one egg a day will do no real harm to one's body at all. However, research does show that the whites provide more benefit as opposed to the yolks. The way in which they are cooked may also pose a significant factor as well.
Cinnamon and Cholesterol: Many have thought of cinnamon to be a likely factor in the bout against cholesterol, believing that it may actually cause a lowering of it altogether. Such a relationship has often been a hotly debated topic. Despite studies garnering results, many continue to doubt its real benefits.
Blood Cholesterol: People will generally go to the doctor for their yearly physical and the doctor will do a blood test this checks their blood cholesterol among other things in their blood. If a person has high blood cholesterol then they are usually put in a diet in order to reduce the amounts of fat that they eat and this will help lower their blood cholesterol. Blood cholesterol forms when there are too many lipids in the body. Lipids are the organic molecules that make up fats, steroids, and waxes within one's body.
The body needs lipids to be able to store and use energy. However, when there are too many lipids, or fats, in the body it cannot use this energy and the fat gets stored causing many different health problems. Lipids do not dissolve in the body if there are too many that are not being used, so this causes things such as clots in the heart. When a person has high cholesterol, this means that they have too many lipids. This is why it is important to do a yearly cholesterol check. A cholesterol check is the only way to tell if you have high cholesterol because there are no signs and symptoms. A cholesterol check is done by a doctor and it is usually part of a routine blood test. If the results come back that the person has high cholesterol then they will need to reduce the lipids in their body by going on a diet.
Cholesterol Monitor: Some people have dangerously high cholesterol so they need to constantly keep it in check, in order to do this they can purchase a cholesterol monitor, rather than having to constantly be going to the doctor for blood work. A cholesterol monitor i s a good way to keep track of your cholesterol and not having to go to the doctor, while some people still need regular doctor visits. A cholesterol monitor helps you check your cholesterol levels at home, so this is good for someone that has high cholesterol because they can get their cholesterol readings right at home.
The way a person gets their cholesterol readings with a cholesterol monitor is by pricking their fingers with the lancet that the monitor comes with and placing some blood on the test strip. Always remember to wash your hands before using the cholesterol monitor in order to prevent infections and to get an accurate cholesterol readings. A doctor might sometimes want to see how a patient's cholesterol readings have been so it might be best to keep a log of the cholesterol readings. Some people might need to check their cholesterol levels with the cholesterol monitor more often than others. Even if you have a cholesterol monitor you should still see your doctor regularly in order to do full blood tests including lipid panels. Not everyone will need a cholesterol monitor, this is more for people that have really high cholesterol readings.
Normal Cholesterol Levels: Having normal cholesterol levels is important in order to stay healthy  because  high cholesterol can cause a number of different health problems, especially those health problems that are heart related. Normal cholesterol levels are under two hundred. There are different types of cholesterol numbers some are for good cholesterol and some cholesterol numbers are for bad cholesterol. In order to find out your cholesterol numbers you need to see a doctor and have a blood test done in order to check this. If you do not have normal cholesterol levels the doctor will inform you and what the risks are and how to lower your cholesterol numbers. It is good to have high HDL cholesterol numbers and low LDL cholesterol numbers.
If you have low HDL cholesterol numbers and high LDL cholesterol numbers then you are at risk of heart disease. Normal cholesterol levels will be those that are higher in HDL and lower in LDL. Normal cholesterol levels will keep you healthy and will prevent any heart disease while abnormal cholesterol levels will increase your chances of heart disease and other health problems. People should have their blood test done yearly in order to make sure they have normal cholesterol levels and to make sure they keep their cholesterol levels within a good range. If your cholesterol levels are not normal the doctor will likely suggest you go on a diet and reduce the amount of fat you eat.
Good Cholesterol: The good cholesterol is the high density lipoprotein or also known as the HDL. In order to be healthy one should have a high good cholesterol and a low bad cholesterol or LDL. By doing a simple blood test your doctor will be able to tell you your cholesterol levels and if your good cholesterol is higher than your bad cholesterol. It is important to have good cholesterol levels in order to reduce the risk of many health problems, including heart disease. If a person does not have good cholesterol and their LDL is higher than their HDL, they will likely be asked to go on a diet and eat good cholesterol foods. A cholesterol chart will help in identify at which levels a person's cholesterol should be. Good cholesterol foods are those that will help lower your LDL and raise your HDL. Some good cholesterol foods include oat meal and other high  fiber foods, fish and foods that have omega 3 fatty acids, different types of nuts such as walnuts and almonds, olive oil rather than butter or fatty oils, and foods that have been fortified with sterols. A cholesterol chart will give you the ranges of which your cholesterol should be at. This cholesterol chart will include good cholesterol, HDL, and bad cholesterol, LDL, and what normal and unhealthy numbers are for both. It is important to keep your cholesterol at healthy levels in order to reduce the chances of many diseases
Cholesterol Supplements:  Some people have high cholesterol and they have to lower it by eating right and exercising. However, some may take cholesterol supplements in order to help them lower their cholesterol. Cholesterol supplements should be taken along with diet and exercise. One cannot expect to take cholesterol supplements and lower their cholesterol levels while still eating fatty foods and not exercising at all. There are several different types of cholesterol supplements that help lower the bad cholesterol and at the same time help raise the good cholesterol. One of these cholesterol supplements is green tea extract, which has shown to this exactly this.
Other cholesterol supplements are sterols that can be found in certain foods like soybeans. Sterols are cholesterol supplements because they help absorb the cholesterol within the body and turn it into energy. The cholesterol structure is the same between HDL and LDL cholesterol. The cholesterol structure is made up of three main parts. The first part of the cholesterol structure is the hydrocarbon tail. The second part of the cholesterol structure is four hydrocarbon rings. And the third part of the cholesterol structure is the polar hydroxyl group. Most of the tissues in the body can make up the cholesterol, however, the liver and the intestines make the most cholesterol. It is good to stay away form fatty foods so that the body makes more of the good cholesterol rather than the bad cholesterol.
Cholesterol Myth: Although there are many people who are fully educated on cholesterol, others may be confused due to myths about chloesterol. One cholesterol myth is that having high cholesterol will automatically lead to heart problems. This is not so, while higher cholesterol is not healthy, on its own it cannot lead to heart failure, there are also other factors that aid in the cause of heart problems. Another cholesterol myth is that higher cholesterol is bad and lower cholesterol is good. This is also not true because although you may have a lower cholesterol number, any amount of cholesteol can be dangerous. It is ideal to keep the cholesterol levels within a healthy range.
Another cholesterol myth is that the only way to lower cholesterol and prevent heart failure is by taking cholesterol medications. Although medication can lower chloesterol, a lower cholesterol can be achieved by eating healthy and  exercising more frequently. Another cholesterol myth is about what causes high cholesterol. Some may say that what causes high cholesterol is simply animal fat but this is not true. High cholesterol can be caused due to a number different factors including stress and physical state. There are several books, journal entries, and articles that discuss the cholesterol myth and the truth about having higher cholesterol. While some things may be hard to prove, it is best to speak to a doctor about what causes high cholesterol and how to have lower cholesterol and if medicine is necessary for everyone.
Cholesterol Treatment: Some people may be told that they have high cholesterol after they have a blood test done at their doctors office. High cholesterol will generally mean that the person needs cholesterol treatment. Cholesterol treatment will vary depending on how high the person's cholesterol really is. If a person has slightly high cholesterol then they will simply be asked to go on a diet and cut out some of their fat intake. However, if a person has really high cholesterol, they will need cholesterol treatment, among diet and exercise, and even a cholesterol meter in order to keep track of their cholesterol levels.
A cholesterol meter is a way for a person to keep track of their cholesterol levels at home. With a cholesterol meter, a patient will not need to be constantly going to the doctor in order to check their cholesterol because they can check it themselves. If a person's cholesterol is so high that they need to use a cholesterol meter to constantly check it then they will need cholesterol treatment as well. Cholesterol treatment could be a number of different medicines that help reduce the bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol. This is not going to work on its own, the person also needs to diet and exercise in order to help the cholesterol treatment in lowering the bad cholesterol and raising the good. Cholesterol treatment will help is lowering the risk of many heart diseases and health problems.
